Awards & Scholarships
The Delaware Music Educators Association provides opportunities for educators, community members, students, and more to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to music education in the state of Delaware.
The Retiring Teacher Award is awarded to an outstanding music educator in Delaware and DMEA/NAfME member retiring from the profession at the end of the year of awarding. The Honors in Music Award is awarded to a student All-State participant in grades 10-12. Nominated by their music teacher (who is an active DMEA/NAfME member), must also have endorsement from the school principal, All-State event chair, and DMEA president. The Music Alumnus Award is awarded to a graduate of a Delaware secondary school that was active in their school's music program. This award recipient has also fostered a successful career in music and/or continues to promote music education throughout the community. The Future Music Educator Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior of any Delaware school that has participated in All-State, as well as having been accepted into a college or university program for the pursuit of a career in music education. The Outstanding Administrator Award is awarded an a member of a school or district administrative team that consistently shows outstanding support and advocacy for music education throughout the school community. The Hall of Fame Award recognizes a distinguished member of DMEA that has retired from the profession, but continues to provide distinguished service to music education throughout the state of Delaware. The Music Educator of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding music educator that has demonstrated a minimum of five years of successful school teaching in music and has gained support from administration, colleagues, students, parents, community members, etc. |
