What Went On?Missed a meeting? Weren't able to attend an event? Don't have anything remotely to do with UD CMENC but are curious as to what we do? This page is for filling you in, giving you the scoop, or at least a general idea of what we have been doing. Check out the meeting minutes for details on meetings! The Edwin Gordon Workshop was great! Thank you to GIML (The Gordon Institute of Music Learning) for making this event possible. UD CMENC provided lunch. We had a great turnout of around 100 people. Teachers in the area, UD students and faculty, and students and faculty from several other colleges attended. Music Major Weekend was a huge success! Thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible. The student hosts, the student panel, the performers in the recital, the Blue Hen Ambassadors who led the tour, the volunteers at department auditions, and the planning done by the MENC officers on various aspects of MMW all contributed. We had signins, icebreakers, dinner, a recital, a student panel, a tour, ice cream, and games on Sunday and shadowing classes and pickup on Monday. The weekend was very organized and all UD students did an excellent job of representing MENC, the music department, and UD. Nice work done by all! The National MENC Conference Interest Meeting was short but sweet and covered the information members need to know in order to book their flight, hotel, and register for the conference. Check out the meeting minutes for more details. DMEA day was a blast! We had about 40 students attend and preside over sessions. Everyone looked and acted very professional. DMEA was grateful for the help. It seems like everyone had a good time and learned a lot. Yay! Our October meeting went very well. First, Dr. Burton gave a resume workshop. Our regular meeting included fun facts by Anthony on the music and traditions of Germany as well as some important information about findraisers, state day, other musical organizations, and MENC's plans for next month. After the meeting Ashley and Boyd Holmes gave a presentation on Inclusive Music Making. Check out the minutes for more detail. Our September meeting included general information on MENC, how to become a member, an overview of our calendar for this year, info. on state day, the national convention, and the breakfast fundraiser. The freshman were asked if having an MENC mentor helped with their transition into college. Door prizes were given out to those who could guess what mode a melody was in, and everyone got a goodie bag on the way out. The MENC mentors program was a success! Almost every freshman who attended the September meeting and had a mentor reported that the contact they had with their mentor during the summer helped them in the transition into college. Thank you mentors! The Fiesta at Dr. Burton's was a blast! We had wonderful food thanks to the Burtons, games including ping pong, pool, pin the tail on the donkey, and badminton, and learned salsa dancing thanks to Andrea. Photos are up.
