DMEA Solo/Ensemble Festival 2020

NEW 2020 - Small ensembles are now invited to perform! Groups should be limited to 8 players. Sample ensembles include, but are not limited to: Brass Quintets, Woodwind Quintets, Woodwind Octets, Vocal A Capella (limited to 8), Vocal Jazz (limited to 8) and any Duos, Trios, or Quartets. Please fill out the separate Ensemble registration form to be included.

Solo/Ensemble at a glance: Students will arrive to warm up 1 hour prior to their performance slot. They will meet and rehearse with their accompanist (if applicable) 15 minutes prior to their performance and go from that space directly to the performance stage. After all students have performed, the top 3 scoring soloists and top 3 ensembles will be announced and invited back to perform in the finalists concert. This concert is not for adjudication and is open to the public. At the conclusion of this concert, the judges will announce the ranking of each category and all those who performed during the day will be invited back on stage for certificates and pictures.

Eligibility/Requirements: Delaware students 6th to 12th grade are eligible to participate. Each soloist or ensemble must bring 3 original copies of their music on competition day in addition to sending in an original copy of the accompaniment part before the December 13th application deadline.

Soloists: Performers on piano, woodwind, brass, percussion, strings, and solo singers are all acceptable. For vocalists, no pop music or Musical Theatre will be allowed. Any vocal solo must be classical art song. Each performer's solo must be between 5 and 15 minutes in length, more than one solo is allowed.

Ensembles: Ensembles are limited to 8 players. Sample ensembles include, but are not limited to: Brass Quintets, Woodwind Quintets, Woodwind Octets, Vocal A Capella (limited to 8), Vocal Jazz (limited to 8) and any Duos, Trios, or Quartets. Please fill out the separate Ensemble registration form to be included. Music performed should be between 5 and 15 minutes, multiple selections are allowed.

Day-Of Information: Please plan on arriving at least 1 hour prior to performance slot for registration, warm-up and rehearsal with accompanist if applicable. Also plan on being available for the finalists round as well as the Awards Ceremony starting at 4:30pm.
