Senior Solo
The winner of the annual DMEA Senior Solo competition will perform with the 2010 Delaware All-State Orchestra and with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra at one of their designated concerts. Applicants must be a twelfth grade string, woodwind, brass player, percussionist or vocalist. A panel of three judges will adjudicate the auditions.
Applicants audition by performing their choice of a selection for solo instrument or voice for which an orchestral accompaniment exists. Concertos, concertinos or movements thereof, operatic arias and art songs are acceptable pieces; popular songs and songs from Broadway Musicals are excluded. The length of the piece should not exceed ten minutes. Memorization of the solo is mandatory for auditions and the performances. Applicants must audition with piano accompaniment, secured on his/her own.
