New Awards and Grants
The Executive Board recently approved the establishment of new DMEA awards that we can add to our list of those that we already sponsor. Our current line-up includes our Educator of the Year Award, the Hall of Fame Award, the Honors In Music Award and several others. We'd like to add a few others to the fold, and we're eager for your suggestions. If you're interested in being on the Awards Committee to help establish new awards and their criteria, please let me know ASAP. It won't take much time, and just a couple of short meetings.
Similarly, we've approved financial grant awards, aimed at elementary general music programs. We've allocated grants in the amount of $300 for classroom use, half of which is paid by DMEA and the other half matched by the recipients' schools, PTAs, etc. The idea is to get the schools involved with the process so that they can recognize instructors' needs, further recognize that that there are avenues available for funding, and participate in the solution. To get this off the ground, please consider joining our new Grants Committee. Just a few short meetings can set things in motion as we develop the grants process.
